The Hopalong Cassidy books by Louis L'Amour

Louis L'Amour wrote 5 books featuring Hopalong Cassidy.

I think they are some of the best things he wrote, and I certainly enjoy them as much as any of his other books.

Hopalong Cassidy was created in 1904 by Clarence E. Mulford. He was featured in 66 films (from 1935 to 1948) and then in television after that.

L'Amour wrote his Hopalong books under the name "Tex Burns" and for whatever reason tried to deny ever writing them. They were his first novels, and published by Doubleday.

The Riders of High Rock
The Rustlers of West Fork
The Trail to Seven Pines
Trouble shooter
He said, "I wrote them for hire, they weren't my books". Well, I think they are good and enjoyable and whatever problem L'Amour had about them -- ain't my problem.
