The Green Trails map is the best there is, which is not very good. It is fine for the hikes in and around Madera Canyon. It is a disaster for any of the roads elsewhere and for the trailheads. The forest service has blocked roads, relocated trailheads, and even bulldozed new roads.
The USGS Topo maps are even worse. Many of the most important roads are not even shown, roads are now in different locations. The problems seem almost endless.
I know what you are saying. I should start working on a revised map myself. I am collecting data by driving with my GPS tracking my position and that would provided the proper data for working up a new map. Maybe someday. For now, give close attention to my written descriptions.
