It is a nice all metal pen that takes refills. All of my other experience with ballpoint pens has been with the throwaway "click" variety. Usually Pilot G-2 07, which I buy by the box.
This nice pen does not click. It has a nice cap that snaps into place, just like nice fountain pens.
Inside was a refill that said "Hauser, Germany, Open Ceramic 777F". I thought this would be impossible to find, but a search got lots of hits. The available replacement (which works great) is a Schmidt 888F. Apparently the "f" is for fine.
I got a 3 pack of these for $6 on Amazon and had the pen in business in two days (after it had laid around for at least 10 years).
Note: The pen has a spring inside that presses on the back of the refill. Don't loose it!
