Platinum 3776 on Ebay

It was the evening of October 8, 2024 and I was looking around on Ebay. I ran across a used Platinum 3776 going for $26 with the auction finishing in 9 hours. So I bid. I woke up in the morning and I had won the bidding.
(The pen arrived via FedEx 10-17-2024, somewhat earlier than expected)

The final bid was $56 Shipping from Japan was $17. So all told I am paying $76.42

The seller is "penderful_japan" who calls himself "Fountain pen and Walkman store" with 99.2% positive feedback.

Photo of the nib does not have the heart shaped hole I see on recent Platinum pens. Platinum only started using the heart shaped holes in 2022, so this simply means that the pen is more than 2 years old.

It arrived!

There is no size marking (F or M) on the nib. But there is in Kanji! The Kanji marking translates "thin" which sounds like fine to me. (as advertised) I think it is nice having a Japanese pen marked in Kanji.

I had already ordered the converter (which was a very nice converter with gold bands), so I was ready to ink it right up and try it out.

The converter seemed tight so I used a tiny bit of silicone grease. This is my first use of the Iroshizuku yama guri brown ink, and I like it just fine.

My first impression is that this writes just a little wider line than the F nib on my Sailor Pro Gear, and is a bit smoother. There is nothing wrong with either by any means. The Sailor gives me the feel that the nib is delicate and that I only barely need to touch the paper with it. This Platinum nib could feel smoother simply because it has been used a lot and has been smoothed out over many miles of writing. Both are fantastic pens.
