Nice things about the Antminer S9
I have had the EBAZ-4205 boards for about 4 years and have invested a lot of time
with them. I just recently picked up some Antminer S9 boards and like them a lot.
Here are some nice things.
In many cases these "nice things" stand out in comparison with the Ebaz boards.
- Same Zynq chip
- gigabit ethernet (versus 100 Mbit)
- 256 Mbyte NAND (versus 128)
- 512 Mbyte (or 1G) ram (versus 256M)
- SD card slot is standard
- No resoldering to set up for power
- Handy jumpers for boot modes
- More IO
- 6 pwm fan outputs (versus 2)
- Nice schematic
The only big negative I have seen is that the JTAG is a 2mm pitch
connector rather than the 0.1 inch pitch connector on the Ebaz.
I am undecided about the Angstrom linux. I have hated it in the past.
It does look bigger and more complete than the busybox Petalinux
on the EBAZ boards, but it is too early to tell.
Other negatives:
- jtag on 2mm centers
- Still no hardware reset button.
- Crazy bright LEDs on board
